This week has been a little bit of an adventure. It seems like my contractions are starting to pick up a little more and I am really starting to feel them. My doctor came in and decided to take me off of the contraction monitor and start monitoring just an hour a day unless I start contracting. Yesterday went pretty well, but yesterday evening I could feel the contractions and they were pretty close. Yesterday we also starting monitoring the babies' heart beats for an hour at a time, twice a day. They hooked me up to the heart beat monitor and the babies were very active. It ended up taking about two hours to get a good reading. They were very very active, which is a good thing, just makes it hard to monitor them.
The nurse came back in and I told her I was still contracting. She decided to put me on the contraction monitor for the night while I slept. She wasn't gone very long and came back with a shot of Turb for me. She said I was contracting every 1-2 minutes. It seems like every time we talk about going off the contraction monitor, I start contracting. Ugh! The shot made me stay awake and shake, and just when I would get to sleep I would have to go to the bathroom, or it would be time to take pills. Lets just say I did't sleep much at all.
I usually have my ultrasound appointments on Thursdays, but today was different. Just as I was starting to take a nap, the nurse came in and got me. They had to do some changing in the schedule so they decided to move it up to today. I got to hear the heart beats and they were looking good. Then it was time for me to get my cervical length checked. Up until today the medicine has been working really well and it has been thickening up. Today my cervix had taken a change and thinned back to 1.7 centimeters. This means that the contractions are causing me to thin. I didn't get checked to see if I had dilated anymore. My doctor was gone today, so hopefully I will hear from her on what the next step is. I will keep you posted.
I am really looking forward to Sunday. Andrew's family is throwing a shower for me here at the hospital. We are having just a small shower and once the babies are born, we are going to do a big shower with everyone and show Keaton and Kendall off. It will be nice to get out of the room for a while and put on regular clothes....not pajamas! :)
